‘LESSONS FROM THE LEXINGTON’

 

Recently my daughter and I took a short, belated Mother’s Day mini-vacation to Corpus Christi, the city whose name means the Body of Christ.

 

 

We stayed in the beautiful Omni Hotel that sits on Corpus Christi Bay and as we opened our large curtains to reveal a floor to ceiling wall of windows, there to our amazement was the US.S. Lexington in view.

 

When we boarded the USS Lexington, immediately I was immersed in a parable. 

 

With sweat pouring down our backs, we went up and down the ladders/stairs on this World War II carrier and every moment He was showing and speaking. 

 

My daughter had brought her camera, so I asked her to begin to take pictures for I needed to report what He was unfolding.  I believe part of why He is speaking forth these things now is because many have been sidelined. Surely these same things raced through the minds of people as World War II was readying to break out.  ‘Is this the end?’  ‘Should we even get involved?’  ‘Should we just pack our spiritual bags and wait at the depot?’

 

We are not yet at the final ‘end’ and perhaps we have prematurely sat down.  It is time to be encouraged and renewed and live to fight another day.

 

As we went through the ship, I was struck with how this ship operated as a unit.  Although there were so many parts, they operated as one.

 

He has had me teaching on the House of Joseph and how His people migrated… by His Spirit… like a sail being blown by the east wind westward.  And when the time came when the House of Yehudah, the Jewish people,desperately needed their hidden, unknown brethren across the sea, how they came.

 

There was a Jewish sage named Malbim, short for Meier Leib ben Yechiel Michael, who lived from 1809-1879.   Based on Ezekiel 37 and on the life of Joseph found in Genesis, he wrote concerning the House of Judah and the House of Joseph and the ‘two sticks becoming one’.  Here is a little of what he wrote… the pertinent part:

 

‘The Tribe of Judah who are scattered amongst the nations and are weakly and few will attach themselves unto the Ten Tribes…The House of Joseph will be the warriors and the rulers.’

 

The Malbim was led by His Spirit to see that a time was coming when the House of Judah (the Jewish people) would need the help of the House of Joseph.

 

This was realized in a worldwide conflict called World War II from which the reborn nation of Israel emerged.  The Jewish people were close to being devoured when, at last, the House of Joseph rose up and came to pull the House of Judah out of the jaws of annihilation.

 

I believe that the Malbim spoke this forth by the inspiration of His Spirit moving upon His word.  The Malbim wrote this in the late 1800s and in 1933 Adolph Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. 

 

 

He ultimately moved upon the GI Joes and the ‘warriors and rulers’ arose.  Never has a nation been sotransformed from soda fountain jerks, gas station attendants, manufacturing workers, and farmers into warriors. After Pearl Harbor (there’s that ‘pearl’ again), instead of men shying away from fighting for right, they showed up at induction centers in droves!  Joseph had arisen!

 

That includes the UK.  I have been teaching on their amazing stamina and courage to hold on until America finally awakened!  Hitler would have eclipsed all of Europe save the little island of England!  Night after night London was bombed and yet they emerged to fight another day.  They had it in them to fight until victory.  For it is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!

And I love the ‘unknown’ soldier and their valiant stories.  I read about an Australian… a young man who had gone to France to study, but then the war broke out.  He stayed and became part of the French underground, fighting wherever he could.  He was captured by the Nazis, but escaped and still he fought on.  He sent his family the following letter:

 

‘Dearest Mother, Father  – yet another effort to get some news of the prodigal through to you; sufficient to assure you of my absolute safety and perfect health and more especially of my excellent morale and my deep affection for you all.  Of this last I trust you have never doubted as you may perhaps have had reason to do, given my own stupidity and egoism.  But such is the way of all prodigals – and so is their eventual homecoming and forgiveness, and of course, the fatted calf…

 

My sincerest love to you all and please do not worry too much about me Mother.’

 

Just under twelve months later, he would be beheaded by the Nazis.  What a hero…

 

Where did these warriors come from?  They emerged… I believe He grew them quickly… they had come to their ‘finest hour’:  Dwight Eisenhower, George Patton, Bernard Law Montgomery, Omar Bradley, Chester Nimitz, Douglas MacArthur… and many, many more, including

 

 

‘Little Texas’ Audie Murphy, the most decorated American warrior ever, with 33 medals awarded including the Congressional Medal of Honor. 

 

This is also the time that Rosie the Riveter was born… she was tirelessly building tanks, planes, and ships:

 

 

That was the backdrop to our stepping on board the USS Lexington World War II carrier… docked there at Corpus Christi, the Body of Christ… readying to bring forth a parable.  For we are in Him, the great Warrior King, the Captain of the host of heaven!

Lessons from the Lexington

 

As we drew near readying to ‘get on board’ there were the ‘Blue Angels’ stationed outside, for He goes before us and His angelic host is with us for we are part of His Army of Light. 

 

 

He has shown me for some time now that blue represents His Spirit, even as the High Priest wore the robe of blue.  He takes us into His Throne Room on high, even as the bright blue sky speaks of His covering and His angelic host are in the heavenly realm warring as we pray.  (Daniel 10, Revelation 12)  Many times by His Spirit He will show me something and I say, ‘that was a Blue’s clue’. 

 

The Lexington was nicknamed ‘The Blue Ghost’, and by Him that day it was not the Casper kind!  The nickname was given to her because she was the only carrier in the fleet that was not camouflaged, but was painted dark blue.  Her seeming invulnerability was meant to demoralize the Japanese.

 

‘She sinks beneath the deep blue seas each evening,

all hands on board, only to reappear each morning on the horizon’

 

Lesson 1:  We are also covered in blue as we war in the heavenlies in our High Priest before His Throne of power.  And our invulnerability in Him should also demoralize our enemy!  The enemy may try to weary us, but in Him we GET UP!

 

 

The USS Lexington was named after the first battles of the Revolutionary War in Lexington and Concord,Massachusetts… battles which inspired Ralph Waldo Emerson’s ‘Concord Hymn’ and the famous phrase: ‘A Shot Heard Round the World’.   The first USS Lexington was built in 1776.

 

 

The Lexington was one of 24 Essex class carriers built during World War II and was part of the US Naval fleet that fought in the Pacific… she dons the number 16.  By His Spirit, He has prompted these two portions of Scripture from Psalm 16 and Ezekiel 16.

 

Psalm 16

 

Psa 16:1  Guard me, O Ěl, for I have taken refuge in You.

Psa 16:2  I have said to יהוה, “You are יהוה, I have no good beside You.”

Psa 16:3  As for the set-apart ones who are on the earth, They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.

Psa 16:4  The sorrows of those who run after another one are increased; I would not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor take up their names on my lips.

Psa 16:5  יהוה is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You uphold my lot.

Psa 16:6  Boundary lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, a good inheritance is mine.

Psa 16:7  I bless יהוה who has given me counsel; My kidneys also instruct me in the nights.

Psa 16:8  I have set יהוה always before me; Because He is at my right hand I am not shaken.

Psa 16:9  Therefore my heart was glad, and my esteem rejoices; My flesh also dwells in safety.

Psa 16:10  For You do not leave my being in the grave, Neither let Your Kind One see corruption.

Psa 16:11  You show me the path of life; In Your presence is joy to satisfaction; At Your right hand are pleasures forever.

 

Ezekiel 16

 

Eze 16:4  “As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water for cleansing, and you were not rubbed with salt at all, nor wrapped in cloth at all.

Eze 16:5  “No eye felt sorry for you, to do any of these for you, to have compassion on you. But you were thrown out into the open field, to the loathing of your life on the day you were born.

Eze 16:6  “Then I passed by you and saw you trampled down in your own blood, and I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ And I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’

Eze 16:7  “I have let you grow like a plant in the field. And you are grown and are great, and you come in the finest ornaments. – breasts were formed, your hair grew, and you were naked and bare.

Eze 16:8  “Again I passed by you and looked upon you and saw that your time was the time of love. And I spread My skirt over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” declares the Master יהוה.

Eze 16:9  “And I washed you in water, and I washed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil.

 

The blue USS Lexington was used in World War II to help end that generation’s fight with darkness, the culture ofdeath that had gripped the whole word.

 

Now is our time to stand for right and to push back the darkness once again…

 

 

One of the first things we saw was the SNJ Texan, the favored Naval trainer aircraft to train Navy pilots during WWII.  It is considered the most successful trainer ever designed. 

 

 

This sign on board the Lexington is a powerful word to us… the Shofar is being blown… the orders are being given from our Commander and we are to salute and say ‘Yes sir’.  This is the ‘call of duty’ as His watchmen and as part of His Army of Light.  It is time to go ABOVE… and BEYOND…

 

 

I loved these pictures!  We are a team and there is no ‘male and female’ in Corpus Christi!  We all have a job to do.  Note that this speaks of the Waves… even as in the ‘Waves of War’ that is erupting off the coast of Israel.  He had us go on board to receive this parable for He knew what was coming! 

 

And see this female officer above receiving a word and passing it on.  May we have our ears attuned to Him!  He iscalling to us and we are to hear Him and send out the warnings, the instructions, the admonitions, the prophetic word.

 

 

And Beloved, what is the purpose of the battle?  The darkness is trying to come once again to kill, steal and destroy.  There is real genocide happening in Darfur and other places and there is darkness trying to press in on all sides.  We are those who are His Army of Light and while we are here we are to fight the good fight by He Who is the Light.  He Who the Son sets free is free indeed. 

 

Lesson 2:  Let us hear and obey.  For in Him we live to fight another day.  May our prayers go forth for His Light to shine in the darkness, to set men free.

 

 

 

I was also drawn to the communications aspect.  Many times as of late He has drawn me to communication in the natural and being prepared if all internet, email, phones, radios, televisions were down.  Let us hear from Him and share with one another regarding this.

 

Lesson 3:  Let us share with one another what He is showing to be better prepared as an echad unit in Him.

 

But also see the binoculars and the telescopes.  He is giving us eyes to see… distant prophetic vision. 

 

Those binoculars above are called ‘Big Eyes’.  His BIG EYES are seeing, even as He showed Himself as thathuge eagle with huge eyes hovering over Yerushalayim.  He is giving us vision…BIG VISION.  He gives us eyes to see the end from the beginning… and it is VICTORY. 

 

When I was in Israel for the first time, we were in the Golan and I went under the bunker area and there underneath were these same big binoculars fastened to the ground on a permanent pole, but they were white.  I waited in line to get my eyes on those binoculars that the early returning Zionists used to look for their enemies.  All was silent and Israelis were waiting in line and finally my turn and looking through those ‘big eyes’.  Awesome.  We are His watchmen.

 

Lesson 4:  Let us yield to the leading of His Spirit, and hear with His ears and see with His eyes.  Let us take our positions in prayer andwatch.  And know that we are seated in Him at the right hand of power. 

 

 

Communication for the pilot was putting his hand upon his throat and the vibrations would send his voice across in sound waves.  One day while worshipping, suddenly He asked me ‘How do sound waves travel?’  I thought, ‘What?’  I looked it up and from the source of the sound to the object and then reverberating off, forms a ‘SHIN’… again… a big ‘W’.  Let the sound of victory arise and may the sound waves reach His ears as the sound ofovercoming faith.

 

 

On the upper part of the mast of the ship you see a Japanese flag, right by this flag is the large search light.  He is training our eyes to recognize the enemy even from long distances… even in the rising darkness… for His light shines.  He is helping us to discern the enemy and we see and shine the light dispelling the darkness and uprooting the enemy’s plans to bring ‘sneak attacks’.  Amein!

 

 

The Japanese believed that they had a ‘divine wind’ called the ‘kamikaze’ protecting them.  This false belief caused their desperate pilots to dive bomb US ships in suicide missions.  Today the enemy is again using false belief that ‘suicide’ is satisfying the blood lust of a false god.  Let us shine the light of truth in the face of this darkness!

 

Lesson 5: Let us pray for discernment and yield to His instruction in this.  May He come and bring His discernment to recognize the enemy.  To be a prophetic people led by His Spirit ‘Who shows us things to come’ and war righteously, seeing the false being brought low and our King to be glorified.

 

 

He is the Ladder to heaven… and in this ship… that speaks of the Ark of Him… up and down the ladder/stairs we went.  We go up and down in His Name receiving instruction and strategies from above.

 

Zec 10:12  “And I shall make them mighty in יהוה, so that they walk up and down in His Name,” declares יהוה.

 

If one was not in shape when they came on board, they surely were in a short period of time.  I was sore for days!  It is time to shape up… body, soul and SPIRIT! 

 

 

Before we can do anything effectual in this time of righteous war, we must first be briefed by Him.  We need to go into the briefing room.  I don’t know if you can see this in the picture, but there is a list on the lined chalkboard of those who will fly that day.  There are times we ‘sit on the bench’ and when the time is right, He calls us forth!  While we wait upon Him, He gives us wings!  Then He sends us forth to do all in and through His Son.

 

 

I sat in a WWII fighter pilot briefing chair showing how we must come to Him and receive of Him in order to pray and battle effectually.  We must be on target by being in His Word and being in prayer.  We are to be in the Set-apart Place where the Showbread (the Word), the Menorah (His Spirit), and the Altar of Incense (Prayer) is… this is our briefing room, where we receive from Him…

 

 

On the Lexington is also the board room, where the Captain and even possibly the Admiral would brief the officers.  I had my daughter take this picture to show that we have access into the very board rooms of heaven. We can come all the way in!  We can come in to even the Most Set-apart Place where there is thundering and lightning and voices… where the Ark of His Throne rests.

 

Rev 11:19  And the Dwelling Place of Elohim was opened in the heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His Dwelling Place. And there came to be lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and great hail.

 

Let me also say that there are those who He has beckoned to come in and sit and HEAR.  Let us respect what He is doing and recognize each other by His Spirit.  There are those who He has drawn near to hear and then to report to our shipmates.

 

 

In the lower part of the ship, they had displayed mines from the minefields in the sea.  There are hidden snaresthat He will show us as we are briefed by our Captain… even as He uncovered the ‘foe frogmen’ who were trying to bring destruction from the sea.

 

I remember sitting in my Welsh friend and fellow Pray-er’s kitchen and she began to exclaim to us something that had happened in the Six Day War… with her beautiful accent she said, ‘Did you hear about the Mayans in Israel?!’  ‘The wind came and blew back the sand and exposed the mayans!’  I thought, ‘Were Mayans inIsrael???  Did they discover their remains?  How did they get there??’  I then realized she was referring to mines. J (You should hear her speak using my Texan accent J)  In the Six Day War, He blew His wind and uncovered mines so that the Israeli tanks could pass by in safety.

 

Psa 18:15  And the channels of waters were seen, And the foundations of the world were uncovered At Your rebuke, O יהוה, At the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.

Psa 18:16  He sent from above, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.

 

He Who with the blast of the breath of His nostrils is the One Who uncovers the foundations of the world.  And He will deliver His people from many waters.

 

As we sit in the briefing room and hear from Him He shows us… He uncovers… He directs… amein?

 

Lesson 6: Let us set aside time each week to come into His ‘briefing room’ and hear His instruction.  It is important to set aside time each week to pray without an agenda or a ‘list’.  He wants to speak and reveal and lead.  There are those among you who He has given access into His Throne Room in a special way.  It is important to join with them in prayer as a ‘unit’.  One pray-er in our midst rightly said, ‘It is time to know which unit you are in and join’.  Amein!

 

 

Once we receive from Him we can war righteously and be on target with the sword of His Spirit, bearing the shield of faith.  We go high in Him and wars ensue and the ‘blue angels’ are with us!  For there are more for us than are against, and the truth of this becomes a reality as we take our places in prayer and abide in the ‘briefing room’ of heaven, going ‘up and down in His Name!’. 

 

 

He is making His Bride strong, for He is the King Who will rule with a rod of iron.  He is strengthening us for the coming days as His reign is pressing in.  For weeks He has led me to pray for us to be strong on the inside.  When a warrior went to war with a sword, that sword was tested over and over again before he used it in battle.  We are like that sword.  We have been tested over and over again and there were times we thought, ‘This is too much!’  But Beloved, now as the coming battles rise, the metal will hold… we will not break!  We are in His strong capable Hands.

 

Lesson 7:  He told me once very clearly, that a soldier can have the best training, can have the best equipment, but if they do not show up for battle, they are worthless.  Let us ‘show up’ and join in prayer… let us show up and be on time.  In the midst of praying each week, He will make us strong!

 

One thing that was so very apparent were all the parts:

 

The Surgical unit

 

The Mess hall

 

The Dentist chair

 

The Machine shop

 

Those who washed the sheets for the berths where the sailors slept!

 

And ‘berthing/birthing’ there was… birthing from boys to men… warriors

 

From life to death, for another vital part of the ship was the crew that buried their dead…

 

All had different parts but on one ship…

 

Lesson 8:  Let us yield to our Head and allow Him to assemble the Body… Corpus Christi.  This is the real meaning behind not forsaking the assembling of His Body.  He wants the gifts to operate and for us all to be doing our parts.  He is building His assembly and let us yield to Him and let the parts come forth and work together.

 

Let me state here that over and over He brought forth the lesson that we need to have a certain level of confidence in our ship mates! 

 

He is right now doing a deep pruning work and drawing the sharp sword of separation… He is pruning down to theRoot of Him… removing those who have agendas and who will damage and bring down in the midst of the coming pressure… allow Him to remove.

 

There is Scripture after Scripture that speaks to this and Yeshua Himself said He came to bring the Sword to separate.  As any good Gardener knows, that deep pruning will bring much growth and fruit.  It is for His purposes. 

 

Lesson 9:  He is the Gardener and the Vineyard is His.  He is pruning for His purposes.  Allow Him to do this work.  He knows!

 

 

 

Then up to the Flight Deck!

 

 

 

 

There were older planes and newer planes and we saw how men of old and through the years, have fought and died to push back the darkness and preserve freedom and the light of the witness of Him…

 

… Now is our turn.

 

One thing was also very evident as we stood on that seemingly very small flight deck… during WWII… without all the technology that is in place today, these young courageous men landed on what looked like a ‘postage stamp’ in the middle of a tossing sea!

 

They were essentially told and trained to land on that little spot and don’t fall off the end.  How important it is to be yielded to His training and instruction now!

 

We must be on target and operating as a unit with Him as our Head. 

 

Lesson 10:  Now is the time of preparation.  Again, let us come together and allow Him to train us.  In all things, He is instructing us.  Let us be in His Word, the ‘training manual’.  Let us show up for prayer and be diligent to be yielded and trained by Him.  Charlton Heston when making the movie ‘Ben Hur’ showed up early every morning to learn to drive the chariot with four white horses.  He was the only one who diligently did this every morning and he had special favor with those in charge because of it.  He is wanting us to yield to Him in instruction, for He is our Teacher… the Teacher of Righteousness.  Let us be good disciples and be in His word.

 

 

Here is a dramatic artists’ rendition of preparing to launch.  Once again note the parts.  There is the maintenance crew who were vital vital vital to the mission at hand.  Filling the plane, checking all the parts. 

 

 

 

And look at the amazing launch and landing crew!  These were some dangerous positions as well… when lines snapped, men could be cut in half.  But they were needed to help the pilots… to help them launch and land.  I don’t know how to gracefully segue into this, but some of us who He has launched as pilots have flown many missionsand there is nothing that helps our weary selves like prayer support and words of kindness and encouragement.

 

Pilots are those who go off the deck at mach speed into distant places to shoot down the enemy.  There was pilot fatigue that could set in.  Some of the parts of the ship were those who brought a ‘cool drink’ to the weary warrior.  ALLLLLLL PARTS ARE VITAL!!!!!!  Let us encourage one another… thank you to the Prayer Team who have helped us launch and land. 

 

 

I love this picture that we saw on board… the ship is ALIVE.  Even as He is the Ark of Safety and we live and move and have our being in Him… get on board!

 

But note how the Carrier (and He carries us!) has arms that launch and catch the planes… they launch by a SLING even as the Root and Offspring of David, King Yehoshua launches us into our ‘Abba’s business’ assignments for in Him we are about our Abba’s business.  And He also reaches out to receive us, amein… gentlycatching us and reviving us.

 

And note the bird watching off the mast!  Watchmen and pray-ers and much going on… all under the watchful eye of the Great Watchman!

 

 

Even in the wee hours…

 

 

Then there were those brave young men who served by manning the guns on the flight deck, laying their lives down to protect.  As we drew near to the turret on the flight deck, I said to my daughter, ‘Can you imagine being 19 or 20 years old and suddenly you are on this deck in the middle of the largest conflict the world has ever seen?!  These young men were amazingly courageous!’

 

Right then we climbed inside the turret and saw the rounds that were loaded into the massive guns.  We pressed a button and a video came on and the narrator spoke of the 17 and 18 years olds who were manning this part of the ship!  Then there erupted the sound of battle and gunfire!  It surrounded us and we were immersed in this overwhelming all encompassing sound of huge guns firing!  These young men stood strong in the midst of battle… they didn’t panic… they kept loading!

We must be in the center of His will and He will make us calm in the midst of battle.  The victory comes when there is peace, peace, peace even when it seems that the enemy is surrounding us. 

 

Hold on!  He is coming! 

 

Keep loading!  Keep believing! 

 

Keep firing away… you are His WATCHMEN… you are part of His Army of LIGHT! 

 

It is VICTORY, VICTORY, VICTORY!

 

Lesson 11: May He come and bring us His supernatural peace and assurance even in the midst of battle.  May we become used to the ‘sound of battle’ and not be panicked but know that He is in the back of our boat and in Him we say, ‘Peace be still!’  May we learn to rest in His assured victory.  May we keep our eyes, ears, minds, and hearts on Him.

 

This picture speaks volumes and speaks to what was mentioned earlier that He is pruning for we need a certain level of confidence in our ship mates.  It says, ‘… because somebody talked!’  If there are those who are among you who are to be removed, then you will see Him expose and remove.  Do not be surprised at who this may be and do not get in the way, for just as was said in World War II, the same is true now, ‘Loose lips sink ships!’  Let Him prune.

 

Lesson 12:  May we know what to speak and what not to speak, even as He shows us things to come.  May we mature in this now… in our walk before Him.  We must learn to ‘keep a heavenly secret’.  We must be ‘good spies’.

 

 

Toward the end of our time, we went below deck and came to the chapel.  There on the pulpit were the Scriptures.  I said to my daughter, ‘I must know where the Scriptures is opened to’.  We went to the pulpit and looked:

 

 

It was Psalm 105, the Psalm that speaks of Joseph, as in the House of Joseph, when he was sent to bring deliverance!  We were on a ship that went into battle during a war that was launched to rescue the House of Judah and the Bible on board was open this this Scripture!  Who is like our Elohim?  There is none like Him!  He orders our steps:

 

Psa 105:17  He sent ahead of them a man, Yosĕph, sold as a slave.

Psa 105:18  They afflicted his feet with shackles, His neck was put in irons.

Psa 105:19  Until the time that His Word came, The Word of יהוה tried him.

Psa 105:20  The sovereign sent and released him, The ruler of the people let him loose.

Psa 105:21  He made him master of his house, And ruler over all his possessions,

Psa 105:22  To bind his chiefs at his pleasure, And to teach his elders wisdom.

 

 

Loved this sign, for the Admiral and the Captain were on board… even as the Father and the Son!

 

But I must end with my very favorite sign of this amazing parable:

 

 

‘Now hear this… now hear this’…

 

When the machinist, the dentist, the surgeon, the cooks, the launch crew, the maintenance crew, the officers, the pilots, the dish washers, the launderer, all the personnel on board heard those words:

 

‘Now hear this… now hear this…’

 

everyone stopped what they were doing and did what?

 

Listened…

 

For next came this:

 

‘This is your Captain speaking’!

 

‘Sh’ma Yisrael’

 

‘Now hear this Judah…

 

Now hear this Joseph…

 

This is your Captain speaking’
